Where in Blighty does THIS happen? Nobody has ever (EVER) attempted to do this to me ever (EVER). What do they do, sort of stand there with their fist out expectantly? I think I'd end up staring at their hovering fist aghast until they opened their hand for a normal handshake, or put it away. What's the alternative - awkwardly shake their fist? No Englishman would ever choose to knock their fist on the other person's would they? Obviously I've seen it on TV. And I guess I do see the practical sense in say, boxing or cricket. But I even saw Joe Root take his glove off to shake hands properly after a century - and quite right too.

I much prefer wriggling a finger between the cheeks of an attractive young lady any day.....fist bumps don't work very well.
